Summer Jobs at YMCA Camp Surf

Want to make a difference?  You can spend your summer in the “toughest job you’ll ever love” and come away with new skills, confidence, and memories that last a lifetime! We offer traditional camp programming with an aquatic twist, located on the beach in Southern California.  

Learn new skills

At YMCA Camp Surf, we cross train all staff to teach in all program areas.  That means you will learn to belay at the climbing tower, teach archery, lead crafts and beach games, and also teach surfing and body boarding.  Our teen staff also teach camping skills, teambuilding, kayaking, canoeing, skating, and sailing.  But the bottom line…it’s all about the kids! 

Get wet every day!

We run our own USLA certified beach lifeguard service.  In addition to being positive mentors for our campers, all staff should be strong swimmers and confident in the ocean.

Camp Counselor

The heart of summer camp tradition!  Every staff member is part of a cabin group, living and sharing adventures with 10 campers and another staff member.                          

Ocean Lifeguard

Certify through USLA as a beach ocean lifeguard and combine beach lifeguarding with a traditional summer camp experience.
